Advances in Ophthalmic Imaging

Studies in medical imaging and ophthalmology with Professor Leveziel were launched at the I3M laboratory in 2024. Our research is structured around three main areas. The first focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of various myopia control methods, namely the new DIMS, HAL, and CARE technologies, as well as orthokeratology. The second area focuses on the application of machine learning and deep learning models for predicting myopia. Finally, a third, more recent area explores the progression of hyperopia. A dedicated statistical research engineer, Rime NAJII, was hired two years ago for a three-year term. A research engineer will be hired for this project. The recruitment of a PhD student is also being considered. In addition, a letter of intent for a PHRC grant on glaucoma has been submitted regarding the morphological and functional comparison of the optic nerve of the right eye using 7-Tesla MRI in both dynamic and static conditions, comparing patients with severe myopia and glaucoma to patients with severe myopia without glaucoma, and to non-myopic (emmetropic) patients without glaucoma.
